Hi — I’m Michele. I invented the MagSHOCK®, and I use one every single day.

I want to tell you why we painted this one red, white, and blue.

The three words on the front of our Constitution are “We the People.” Not some of the people. Not the people who agree with you. All of us. That phrase was written before any of us got here, and it was written wide enough to hold every one of us who came after.

And we are a wide country. We came from everywhere. We pray differently, love differently, vote differently, and lately tend to argue about everything. Some of us walk. Some of us roll. Some of us are still figuring out which. None of that has ever made anyone less American.

Lately it feels like we’ve forgotten that beginning phrase of our Constitution. There’s a lot of hateful noise out there, and a lot of it is designed to make us look at each other as opponents instead of neighbors. I’m not interested in that. I’ve spent eleven years shipping chairs to people all over the world, and in all 50 states, and I can tell you what I’ve actually found on the other end of the phone: hurting people. People needing help to get their Freedom back, to get their Independence back, to get their Liberty back.

Freedom, Independence, and Liberty aren’t just ideas, they’re a daily choice about how you move. The people who wrote those words wanted a country where you could go where you wanted to go. That’s exactly what a great wheelchair can give a person — Freedom to GO to the grocery store, the grandkid’s ball game, the hiking trail to walk the dog, the ocean, the vacation trip, the cruise with fun excursions to explore. Independence you can feel as you drive the chair wherever you want to GO. Liberty from being a prisoner, confined within your physical limitations.

A chair like this costs $2,895, and I know that might put it out of reach for some of us. That’s the whole reason for this raffle. $20 dollars per ticket. It doesn’t matter what you earn, where you’re from, who you love, what you believe or how you vote. One person is going to get this chair, and it is my intent to help them experience Freedom again, without limitations.
